Our Welfare-to-Work programs can assist TANF welfare recipients by offering transitional employment opportunities to prepare you for lasting employment and provide you with a variety of post employment and job retention services once you are on the job.

What Kind of Benefits Can I Expect?
- Job Placement Assistance - Employment specialists will develop employment opportunities for program recipients.
- Vocational Skills Training - Specialized training for high-skills employment on available on a tuition-free basis.
- High School Equivalency Diploma - Educational services to help with General Equivalency preparation and English as a Second Language.
- Child Care / Transportation Allowance - Financial assistance is available for qualifying participants.
- Transitional Medicaid Assistance - Medicaid is available for 6 to 12 months of employment.
- Earned Income Credit - Participants will be eligible for an EIC of up to $4,300. This can be included in your regular paycheck.
- Help and Support - Our staff will be responsible for helping you deal with job related problems for a period of six months in order to ensure success.
- Job Readiness - Provide you with a motivational workshop prior to employment.

Ask Yourself the Following!
- Do you have a limited work history?
- Have you had a problem with drugs or alcohol?
- Do you NOT have a G.E.D. or high school diploma?
- Do you have trouble with math or reading?
- Are you a non-custodial parent with a child receiving TANF?
- Are you a teenage parent?
- Do you have a disability?
If you answered yes to two or more of the above questions and you (or your child) have been on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) for 30 months or more, or if you are 12 months from reaching your limit on assistance you may be eligible for the Greater Buffalo Works Program.

GREATER BUFFALO WORKS PROGRAM
This program offers a number of training components that will aid welfare recipients in securing lasting full-time employment. This is a "work-first" initiative that encompasses all of Erie County.
The program focuses on building the confidence of welfare clients while enhancing their skills to allow for more growth in the workforce.
Services offered are: Job Placement Assistance; Vocational Skills Training; High School Equivalency Diploma (GED) Training; Child Care; Transportation; Transitional Medical Assistance; Case Management; Job Readiness Training; Job Retention and Support Services.
