Making the best out of a tough situation

Outplacement services offered by the Workforce Development Consortium (WDC) are designed to deal with the personal, economic, and emotional upheaval that always occurs whenever a worker suffers a permanent job loss as a result of a plant closing or company downsizing.

Once our outplacement team mobilizes, all of our energies and resources are placed at a company's disposal with a single objective: to do everything possible to help the affected workers get back on their feet.

Since most dislocated workers possess solid job skills, the immediate aim of our outplacement team is to help individuals focus on using the skills they already have and are transferable in today's job market.

But that's just the beginning. Outplacement services can be customized to meet other pressing needs, such as additional training to acquire new skills or redirect people to other careers; coordination with other agencies to tie up loose ends ranging from unemployment compensation to family counseling; comprehensive job placement services; and a full complement of personal development and motivational workshops to help individuals fully recover from a job loss.

Outplacement services right on site

If you prefer, and wherever possible, our outplacement team will go right on site to work with you and your employees. We'll start by helping you lay out a comprehensive outplacement plan, including worker skills and needs assessments, strategic and tactical job placement and training objectives, and a timetable for implementation.

We can help you set up meetings, presentations, and personal interviews with workers. We also can stage mini job and career fairs featuring the companies most likely to offer quality jobs to your employees.

In addition, your employees will be given unlimited access to our state-of-the-art Career Centers, offering extensive counseling, resume preparation services, job search tools and secretarial support. Our Career Centers offer the area's largest inventory of current job listings and business directories, plus free use of telephones, computers, fax machines, mailing services and the Internet.

Customized training reduces the impact of a job loss

When the general pool of employees does not have the skills needed to find work elsewhere, the WDC can help create, fund and manage customized training programs.

Customized training not only updates worker skills and enhances their job market value, often paves the way for the successful transition of workers into other positions and careers, thus reducing the economic impact of a company closing, cut-back or relocation.

Upon completion of the training, your employees receive complete job placement assistance, including active marketing of each worker to interested area employers.

Outplacement services recap: no one else is close

You won't find an organization better equipped than the WDC to respond immediately and effectively to the difficulties encountered when a company closes, downsizes or relocates.

Only the WDC can offer a complete package of job placement assistance, career counseling, and employee problem-solving services. We can also identify and implement additional training programs enabling employees to quickly recover from a job loss. And we can deliver these services until the individual secures a new opportunity - no matter how long it takes.
