Economic Development
We're part of the economic development equation. Ready to play an active role in local economic development efforts designed to attract new businesses to the area and encourage existing companies to expand.
Working with county, municipal and state agencies, the WDC provides the final ingredient in the three-point economic stimulus formula of land, capital and labor.
Our expertise in providing specialized employment and training programs has contributed to the success of many start-up enterprises, as well as to the growth of established area firms.
Many ways to help - but you have the final say
For companies seeking to locate here, we can act as your training and employment agent, working closely with your start-up team to design a comprehensive, long-term employee recruitment, screening, hiring and training strategy.
Or, if a special employment or training need is keeping you from achieving your expansion plans, we can develop a customized program designed to meet all your employment objectives.
Whether you need candidates for a single managerial position or hundreds of skilled workers through a massive recruitment campaign, the WDC can help. You maintain complete control over the interview and selection process.
In addition, we can provide the resources - and financial support - to further train the individuals you choose. We partner with dozens of local training organizations teaching vitally important workplace skills.
Add it up: eager, high quality candidates plus specialized training equals a better workforce and a brighter bottom line for you.
Our employment doors swing both ways
Participating in our recruiting fairs and employment workshops puts you in touch with the area's most qualified job prospects. If you're a job seeker, we introduce you to some of the area's best companies. It's our way of opening doors for employers and prospects alike, helping good employers meet outstanding job candidates on a regular basis.
These WDC sponsored activities allow companies to discuss employment opportunities with individuals who have already been pre-screened by the WDC according to your hiring specifications. Those job seekers, then can determine whether the work environment you're presenting is something they'd like to be a part of.
Once you've decided to interview specific candidates, we step back.
The result: a job search and placement process that works for you.
